I am alive. I am in Korea.

I did almost the best I could possibly have done at LDAC with the end result that my high GPA, high scores, and physical fitness test scores will allow me to get the branch and duty station I want. Highest score at LDAC is an overall 'Excellent'. Out of my platoon of 46, only 4 got it. I was one of them. I was also rated number 3 in my platoon. But none of that matters - the only reason I did so well was because I had a platoon that I dearly love and wanted to do the best I could for.

I desperately do not wish to return to Louisville. Kentucky has too many memories for me, it's almost a flood to return. There are too many selfish people in Louisville, and outside of ROTC and the Army I don't want to associate with too many other people. The amazing thing about soldiers is that we all can bond so well - we have a common tie that is incredibly strong. I can't honestly see myself getting too strongly involved with anyone not in the Army, but maybe that's because the last two months has been spent around nothing but soldiers. We are an amazing bunch of individuals.

Yeah, Korea. I love it here. I hope I get stationed here, even with the turmoil growing to the north. I've met some wonderful people, and I've gotten less nervous around other officers - going out drinking with some Lieutenants and the Lieutenant Colonel helped with that, lol.

My heart is finally healing again, and it feels even stronger against heartbreak than it did before. That does not mean that I have become callous and uncaring though - in fact, I feel like my capacity to care and love has grown.

A week before LDAC I was almost very nearly ready to break down. Now, I just feel this overwhelming sense of purpose and of being cared for. The Army is truly amazing.

D: I'm getting sent away for two months.
On June 13th I leave for Fort Lewis, WA, for the training every third year ROTC cadet has to go through. The Leadership Development Assessment Course (LDAC) will last about 28 days.
The day following graduation from LDAC I depart Seattle on a plane bound for Narita Airport, have a short layover in Japan ( 英語を話せますか？! ), and then make my way to South Korea for a month. I'll be stationed with an MP unit to pretty much just observe how they function and hopefully I will have time to hit the economy and get my ass beat in Pump it Up by some eight year old Korean kids. :|

I have been drawing a little bit before I go! I won't have time while I am gone =[ If I get time to even look at my laptop while I'm in Korea, I will be thankful.

Lineart. :B The final print of the whole piece will be 14x18 inches.
